Chevrolet Cruze Station Wagon continues product offensive
Thursday 09 February 2012
• Estate version of the Cruze hatchback
• New 1.7-litre diesel engine
• Refreshed interior and exterior styling
Announcing its second new model in as many months, this year’s Chevrolet product offensive continues with the Chevrolet Cruze Station Wagon, which is to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.
Essentially an estate version of the regular Cruze, which is currently available in saloon and hatchback variants, the new model boasts 1,500 litres of load space with the seats folded.
Alongside the new body style, a new diesel engine also joins the range. The 1.7-litre unit develops 130bhp and has stop and start technology as standard, resulting in CO2 emissions of 119g/km.
The styling of the Cruze range has been updated for the 2012 model year. New alloy wheel designs are available and the front fascia, headlamps and fog-lamps have been tweaked to keep it looking fresh. Roof rails are also available as standard on the Station Wagon. Inside there have been revisions to the centre console layout and the selection of upholstery finishes has been improved.
The Chevrolet products keep on coming this year, with the Cruze Station Wagon’s market debut this summer being preceded by the introduction of the Camaro muscle car to the UK in the spring. It will be available in both coupe and convertible guises sporting a basic price of £34,995, and will feature General Motors’ 6.2-litre V8 engine.
The eagerly anticipated range-extender hybrid Chevrolet Volt is also coming in May, with a projected price of £28,000. Prices for the Cruze Station Wagon have yet to be confirmed, but will be announced close to the model’s launch. Chevrolet has hinted that two further models are due to join the range within the next 12 months, but are remaining tight lipped about details.
