Details of the new Hyundai i30 have been announced, prior to the car’s UK launch in March.

Two petrol and three diesel engines are available. The petrol range comprises of a 99bhp 1.4-litre unit, which is the entry level option for the range, and a 1.6-litre engine, which develops 118bhp and is available only with an automatic gearbox.

The three diesel options are a 1.4-litre engine developing 89bhp, and two 1.6-litre engines, with a choice of 108bhp and 126bhp outputs.

1.6-litre diesel options are available with Hyundai’s Blue Drive technologies – a range of fuel saving systems, including stop and start, to reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. The 108bhp engine, equipped with Blue Drive emits 97g/km of CO2, meaning it is exempt from road tax.

That engine is available from £16,895, making the i30 the lowest priced diesel five-door hatchback in its market segment, undercutting accomplished rivals like the Ford Focus and Renault Megane.

There are four trim levels to choose from including Classic, Active, Style and Style Nav.

Standard equipment in Classic trim includes voice activated Bluetooth connectivity, LED daytime running lights, multi-function steering wheel, heated electric door mirrors and one-touch indicators.

Active trim adds to this with 15-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, rear parking sensors and Hyundai’s Flex Steer system, which alters the weight of the steering between Comfort, Normal and Sport settings.

Style models come with 16-inch alloys, dual-zone climate control, front parking sensors, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps with cornering lights and an automatic de-fog system for the front windscreen.

Top of the range Style Nav models feature a fully integrated touch-screen sat-nav and a rear view parking camera.

The i30 also comes with a plethora of safety systems, including Vehicle Stability Management, Emergency Stop Signal, which automatically flashes the hazard lights under hard braking and Hill-start Assist Control, which prevents the car from rolling back during hill starts.

It is also the latest Hyundai to be covered by the company’s Five Year Triple Care assurance, which includes a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, five years roadside assistance and five years of free vehicle health checks.

The new Hyundai i30 will be available to order from March 12. Prices start at £14,495 on the road for a 1.4-litre petrol model in Classic trim. The range topping 1.6-litre 126bhp diesel unit in Style Nav trim costs £20,295.
