Kia Picanto details revealed
Monday 24 January 2011
When the next generation Kia Picanto arrives in the UK it will have between 68 and 84bhp.
There will be four engine choices in total, with three variations on a new 1-litre, three-cylinder engine petrol and a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol.
Economy and low running costs have been top priority, and CO2 emissions between 95 and 105g/km are among the lowest for a petrol supermini.
These figures make will make all new Picantos free to tax for the first year, while those below 100g/km of CO2 will be tax-free altogether.
This is despite the Picanto growing substantially in size, with Kia claiming it has 27 per cent more luggage room as well as increased space for passengers.
The most economical versions feature Kia’s ISG fuel-saving technology, which includes stop and start. All models will be offered with a choice of five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions.
Features will include LED daytime running lights, button-start with keyless entry and a maximum of seven airbags. The Picanto is expected to go on sale in the UK in late Spring with entry-level models costing less than £10k.
