Mazda3 gets 64mpg diesel
Tuesday 23 November 2010
The Mazda3 will soon be available with a thriftier 1.6-litre diesel, giving it much improved economy and cheaper road tax.
Available in January, the 113bhp engine averages 64.2mpg and emits just 117g/km of CO2, making road tax free in the first year of ownership and £30 annually thereafter.
Prices start from £16,505 for the TS trim level, while TS2 models cost from £17,705. Standard equipment levels include remote central locking, air-con, CD player and trip computer.
Two other diesel engines are available, both measuring 2.2-litres and offering 148 and 182bhp. There’s also a 1.6-litre petrol with 103bhp, 2-litre automatic with 148bhp and 2-litre manual with 149bhp.
Performance fans can still get their hands on the 256bhp Mazda3 MPS hot hatch too.
