New-look Volkswagen Jetta breaks cover
Wednesday 16 June 2010
This is the new-look Volkswagen Jetta, which goes on sale in the UK early next year.
Based on the NCC coupe concept which debuted at the Detroit Motor Show in January, the new Volkswagen Jetta is 90mm longer than the outgoing model and incorporates the Golf family nose and the side profile of a Passat.
On the inside, every model now gets a leather steering wheel, air conditioning and a multi-function display.
Power will be provided by six engines. Petrol options include are a 104bhp 1.2-, a 1.4- with 121 or 158bhp and a 197bhp 2-litre TSI, while diesel alternatives will be limited to a 104bhp 1.6- and 138bhp 2-litre TDI.
Bluemotion Technology will be made available on the 1.2-litre TSI and 1.6-litre TDI models, with both featuring start-stop and brake energy regeneration as standard.
This means the entry-level petrol version will emit 123g/km of CO2 and return an average of 53.3mpg, which improves to just 109g/km and 68.9mpg for the diesel.
Further details and prices will be announced nearer its on sale date in early 2011.
