Full details of the new-look Mazda 6 have been announced, following its debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
The new Mazda 6 gets increased fuel efficiency across the range and adopts what Mazda describes as the new ‘family face’, which was first seen on the latest-generation Mazda 5.
The redesign includes new headlamps and rear lights to create what Mazda describes as a “sporty appearance and a clearer, premium identity”.
The new version will be powered by a choice of six engines. The petrol options comprise of a new 153bhp 2-litre, which is capable of 40.9mpg, and the previous-generation 118bhp 1.8- and 2.5-litre 168bhp units.
Diesel power is provided by a 2.2-litre turbo diesel unit in three derivatives – 127bhp, 161bhp and 178bhp – each capable of more than 52mpg and 142g/km CO2.
It will be offered in four trim levels. The entry-level is fitted with air conditioning, all-round electric windows, six airbags, traction control and brake assist.
TS level adds 16-inch alloys, cruise control and a trip computer. TS2 level upgrades the alloy wheels to 17-inches and adds front fog lamps, automatic wipers and headlamps, heated door mirrors and a 6 CD auto-changer with MP3 connectivity.
