A Porsche Cayenne previously owned by ex-England captain David Platt is for sale on Auto Trader.

The star midfielder and national hero was the first owner of the 2004 Porsche Cayenne S, which is powered by a 340bhp 4.5-litre engine.

This means that it is capable of hitting 0-62mph in 7.2 seconds and accelerating on to a top speed of 150mph.

It comes fitted with 22-inch Khan alloy wheels, red Brembo brake calipers, integrated Porsche sat-nav, all-round heated seats, leather interior, roof bars, privacy glass, BOSE entertainment system and DVD screens in the rear.

The current owner has had it converted to run on LPG. This new system halves the Cayenne’s previously hefty fuel bills and comes with a 5 year warranty.

David Platt’s Porsche Cayenne – which has done 47,000 miles – is advertised for sale by a trade seller, for £15,350. The price includes a one year MOT and road tax, full service history and the original Porsche alloys.

David Platt signed for Manchester United upon leaving school in 1982. He has since played for Aston Villa, Juventus and Arsenal, with honours including the UEFA Cup, Premier League and FA Cup.

His career highlight came during the 1990 Italian World Cup, when the England hero scored three times – including the legendary goal in the last minute of extra time against Belgium which guaranteed England a place in the quarter finals.

Platt played 62 matches for England and was captain 19 times over a three year period. He scored a total of 27 goals, making him England’s tenth best goal scorer of all time.

After retiring from the sport he turned to coaching with a brief, unsuccessful stint at former club Sampdoria and later as manager for Nottingham Forrest and the England Under-21 side.

He now works as a TV pundit and writes a regular column for football magazine FourFourTwo.
