Toyota Prius: brake software recall

Toyota recalls continue
The current, third-generation Toyota Prius is to be recalled to update its braking software.
The Prius recall will affect all cars built before January 27, 2010, which amounts to a total of 8,500 cars in the UK.
This latest action from the Japanese company is in response to reports of inconsistent brake feel at low speed on bumpy or slick surfaces, when the ABS is activated. Toyota is keen to reassure owners that despite the issue, braking performance is not affected and cars are perfectly safe to use.
Last week Toyota announced the recall of 1.8million other models over concerns surrounding malfunctioning accelerator pedals. You can read the full Toyota recall story here.
The company is now working to contact the owners of all affected cars, which will be upgraded at an authorised Toyota service centre in a procedure that takes around 40 minutes.
If you have any concerns, contact your nearest Toyota dealership, visit the company’s dedicated web page or call customer relations on 0800 1388 744.
