Ford unveils hottest Fiesta yet

Ford has revealed details of the hottest version of its brand new Fiesta – the 120bhp Ford Fiesta Zetec S.

The sporty new Ford Fiesta Zetec S is fitted with an all-new 1.6-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine which produces 120bhp and propels Ford’s hot new supermini from 0-62mph in 9.9 seconds.

The new Ford Fiesta – which boasts 20bhp more than the outgoing model – can hit a top speed of 120mph.

Despite this power increase, the new Fiesta Zetec S returns 47.9mpg on the combined cycle and emits 139g/km of CO2 with an annual road tax bill of £120.

Ford is also offering the new Zetec S with a 1.6-litre TDCi diesel unit which develops 90bhp and 150lb/ft of pulling power.

And this ultra-efficient diesel returns 67.3mpg on the combined cycle and emits just 110g/km of CO2 which means a current road tax bill of £35 falling to £20 under new rules which come into force next year.

The Ford Zetec S gets new 16-inch five spoke alloy wheels, projector headlamps, a deeper front bumper, side mouldings and a rear spoiler.

And the sporty theme continues inside with a leather steering wheel, bolstered sports seats, a 30mm lower driving position and trim colours and designs “inspired by snowboards.”

The new Ford Fiesta, which makes its official debut at the upcoming British motor show, is the sixth generation of one of Britain’s best-selling superminis and has sold more than 12 million models since its launch in 1976.

The Fiesta Zetec S shares many of its components with the new Mazda 2, and is fitted with lowered and “tuned” sports suspension.

Full prices will be announced at next week’s British motor show, but expect to pay around £13,000 for the Ford Zetec S.
