The first images of a special edition Alfa Brera S built in conjunction with motorsport team Prodrive have been released with prices starting from £24,950.

Earlier this month we revealed Alfa Romeo had teamed up with Prodrive, but now we can reveal the full specifications of the more brutal Alfa Brera S.

The main improvements on the Alfa Brera S – which will be limited to just 500 models – are with the handling which has been adjusted for a more hardcore ride.

The suspension – which has been lowered by 10mm – features bespoke Eibach coil springs and Bilstein dampers which give the Italian coupe a more nimble and agile feel and reduce bodyroll through corners.

And to give the stunning Alfa Brera S an even prettier stance, Alfa has fitted a set of 19-inch alloys inspired by the Alfa 8C Competizione supercar’s rims.

These wheels were commissioned by Prodrive primarily for performance and play a significant role in the way the car steers and handles thanks to its light weight.

As a result, the Alfa Brera S is significantly lighter than the standard Brera with the front-wheel drive 3.2 V6 100kg lighter than the four-wheel drive model and the 2.2-litre version 35kg lighter.

While power isn’t upped, the weight loss means the flagship 3.2 will have a new top speed of 155mph – 3mph more than the standard model, while the 2.2-litre Brera S maintains a top speed of 139mph.

Inside, the Alfa Brera S gets leather sports seats with red stitching and leather dashboard fascia, door panels, steering wheel and gearlever.

Prices for the Alfa Brera S start from £24,950 for the basic 2.2-litre model, rising to £28,450 for the 3.2-litre JTS.
