Hot new Ford Fiesta - first pics
15 February 2008 View more pictures of the 2008 Ford Fiesta This is the stunning new Ford Fiesta – the sixth generation of Ford’s best-selling supermini. The all-new 2008 Ford Fiesta takes strong design cues from the Verve Concept which was unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show last year, and will make its European debut later this year. And the stunning new Ford Fiesta will be powered by a range of engines, including an all-new 115bhp 1.6-litre Duratec unit – offering up 15bhp more than the engine it replaces. The new Ford Fiesta sports a strong coupe-like shape and will be offered in both three and five door models. The striking design is carried on inside. Ford says the Fiesta’s interior is “futuristic” and “mobile-phone inspired”, and the dashboard will feature MP3 and Bluetooth connectivity along with keyless entry and voice-controlled audio. And for keen drivers, the new Ford Fiesta promises to live up to its reputation as an agile and entertaining supermini. The new Fiesta features a MacPherson-type suspension – as seen in the outgoing model – which, along with the steering, has been heavily revised, while Ford’s engineers have worked hard to eliminate road noise from the cabin while improving the Fiesta’s ride comfort. The Ford Fiesta was first introduced in 1976 and has sold more than 12 million models throughout its five generations (read our review of the fifth generation Ford Fiesta). Full details will be released closer to the launch later in the year, but expect to see the UK-spec Ford Fiesta - which shares half of its components with the new Mazda 2 - in autumn 2008. Auto Trader will be reporting live from the Geneva motor show next month, so check back for more information on the all-new 2008 Ford Fiesta. |
