First chance to see new 476bhp Nissan GT-R
02 July 2008 UK showgoers will get their first chance to see the new Nissan GT-R supercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The new Nissan GT-R – which has lapped the Nurburgring quicker than the £830,000 Bugatti Veyron – will showcase its amazing abilities at the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed in the supercar paddock. And Nissan is promising a petrolhead treat – the hot 476bhp Nissan GT-R will perform acceleration runs on the course. Nissan has already received more than 1,000 orders for the £52,900 supercar-slaying Nissan GT-R – despite the fact UK buyers haven’t even driven it yet. The four-wheel-drive Nissan GT-R has shot to fame as one of the world’s fastest sportscars, sporting a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine which produces 476bhp. This means the new GT-R – which takes over from the old ‘Skyline’ – can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 195mph. In the hands of Nissan test driver Tochio Suzuki, the GT-R managed to lap Germany’s challenging Nurburgring racetrack in seven minutes and 29 seconds – one of the fastest lap times posted by a production car. And Nissan is letting GT-R customers put their foot down – the Japanese carmaker is offering UK GT-R customers race driving techniques at Silverstone to get the most out of the sportscar’s abilities. The very best GT-R drivers will also get the opportunity to obtain an MSA-approved racing licence. The Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place between 11 – 13 July 2008.
