Aston Martin has confirmed to Auto Trader the stunning Aston Martin One-77 supercar will be the fastest car the British marque has ever built.

Fitted with a hand finished 7-litre V12 engine, the Aston Martin One-77 will produce more than 650bhp and should have a top speed in the region of 220mph.

Each Aston Martin One-77 will cost in the region of £1m and will be built around a carbon fibre chassis which will be ultra light and strong, supporting a handmade aluminium body.

From the teaser picture just released by Aston Martin it’s clear the One-77 will follow the design language of the Aston Martin DBS but with even more extreme lines, including massively flared wheelarches and two pronounced strakes along its side.

A spokesperson for Aston Martin told us it will take personalisation into a different league for the manufacturer.

It claims each One-77 will be an automotive piece of art, and its owners will have a big say in how their car is finished.

Despite its £1m price tag, Aston Martin told us: “we’re not doing a Bugatti Veyron”.

While it will be the fastest Aston Martin ever, the company said it’s not chasing performance figures.

Its name represents the maximum number which Aston Martin will build and the design team’s love of the ‘lucky number seven’, but it will change before it reaches customers.

The Aston Martin One-77 has been in top-secret development for fifteen months and Aston Martin is hoping to have a finished car by the end of 2009.

Production will most likely be undertaken at Aston Martin’s Gaydon plant, with each car taking considerably longer to build than current models.
