Asma attack: tuner gives Mercedes a grilling
27 April 2009
Okay so it’s not actually a snow plough, but we think maybe it should only be used as one, and only in Nevada.
Because the PhantASMA makes last week’s Cayenne-based Gemballa Tornado bearable to look at.
Asma, which revealed its anything-but-perfect ‘Perfectus’ SLR earlier this year, has taken a Mercedes CL65, upped power and fitted an almighty bodykit to it.
The German tuning house has given the car a huge grille, 22-inch alloys, lowered the suspension and given it a shiny chrome paintjob.
The 6-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine sends 725bhp and 738lb/ft of pulling power to the PhantASMA’s rear wheels enabling 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds – up from the standard CL65’s 4.4 seconds.
Asma has removed the Mercedes’ 155mph limiter, giving the super-coupe a top speed of 205mph.
There are no details on pricing as yet but we’d expect the PhantASMA to cost around £250,000 – or 1.4million United Arab Emirates Dirhams, which is presumably where most interest will be generated.
