View more pictures James Bond's budget cars Ford Ka James Bond is known for being behind the wheel of Aston Martins, Bentleys and BMW sports cars, but in the forthcoming film Quantum of Solace he looks set to premier a next generation Ford Ka supermini as well as driving his trusty Aston Martin DBS. The current Ford Ka is a fantastic small car, and the next should be even better, and for the price of Bond’s Aston Martin DBS you could buy around 20 of the Ford superminis. Ford Mondeo With a worldwide audience and an untouchable cool-factor, product placement doesn’t get much more effective than a spot in a Bond movie. Ford revealed their latest Mondeo saloon to the world by including it in Casino Royale, with Daniel Craig at the wheel and allowing millions of cinema-goers to see it for the first time. Renault 11 Taxi In A View to a Kill, James commandeers a Renault 11 Taxi as he races through Paris at high speeds chasing May Day (played by Grace Jones), after she jumps from the Eiffel Tower and opens a parachute. During the pursuit the Renault 11 suffers a few dings, first losing its roof then managing to jump onto and off a sight-seeing bus. Then the entire back of the car is severed in a collision – leaving 007 to drive with only the Renault 11’s front wheels. Mini Moke This unlikely bond car is the Mini Moke – a car with the mechanicals of a Mini, in the body-style of an American Jeep. But its low ground clearance made it poor off-road, and it was sold as a low-cost vehicle and a beach buggy. James Bond got behind the wheel in Live and Let Die. Audi 200 1987’s The Living Daylights, starring Timothy Dalton as Bond, gave us a glimpse of the super-spy behind the wheel of an Audi 200. It was a go-faster Quattro, four-wheel-drive version of the family car, fitted with alloy wheels and flared wheelarches fitted by German car tuner’s Abt Sportsline. |
