Porsche 911 Turbo S: fastest ever
08 February 2010
According to Porsche, the Turbo S answers customer demand for even greater performance than the normal Turbo. As such, its flat-six engine has been uprated to produce 530bhp and 516 lb ft of torque – that’s 116 lb ft more than a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4.
Thanks to all that power, four-wheel drive traction and a launch control function, the 911 Turbo S can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds. Top speed is a similarly impressive 196mph, yet it’s still able to return 24.8mpg – although presumably not at the same time.
The 911 Turbo S has a seven-speed, twin-clutch PDK gearbox as standard, along with ceramic composite brakes and a tracking system. it can also be specified with every performance-orientated option that’s available on the standard Turbo model.
The Turbo S makes its official debut at the Geneva motor show on March 2, with UK sales starting in May. Prices start at £123,263 for the coupe and £130,791 for the convertible.
