A convertible Bugatti Veyron will make its world debut at a motor show later this month.

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport will be a roadster with a unique, removable roof with few engineering adjustments to maintain its structural stability.

While details are scant, the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport will maintain the incredible 8-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine found in the standard Veyron.

Producing 1,001bhp, the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport should accelerate from 0-62mph (100kph) in 2.5 seconds and have a top speed of 253mph – making it the world’s fastest convertible.

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport will make its world debut at the ultra-suave Pebble Beach show in California, USA where the Callaway C16 was on show last year.

Pebble Beach’s Concourse d’Elegance is one of the world’s most exclusive car shows ranking alongside the UK’s Salon Prive show for standards of prestige.

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport is the latest in a small line of adjusted Veyrons.

Over the past year, the paint-less Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang and special edition Sang Noir and Hermes models have also been unveiled – all gaining large mark-ups over the £830,000 standard price.

Even standard used Bugatti Veyrons command a premium – with one currently for sale on Auto Trader for £1,050,000.

The first Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport will be auctioned off at Pebble Beach Equestrian Centre on August 17, with a large turnout of well-healed motoring enthusiasts expected to bid for the ultimate convertible.
