New 800bhp Gumpert Apollo Speed at Geneva
A new hardcore ‘Speed’ version of the wild-looking Gumpert Apollo will make its global debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.
Gumpert is being very discreet about its Apollo Speed releasing only small details and the teaser pic below.
It will be available with a 4.2-litre twin-turbocharged Audi-derived engine developing 650bhp, 700bhp or 800bhp depending on your budget.
The 700bhp Apollo Speed will be able to accelerate from 0-62mph in 3 seconds, 0-124mph in 8.9 seconds and hit 224mph.
This should make the 800bhp Apollo Speed capable of hitting the 62mph mark in a sub-3 second time before touching 230mph.
Gumpert says the Apollo Speed’s design is ‘even more aggressive’ than the standard Apollo.
According to the press release the Speed will have remodelled wheel arches and a induction system to provide more air to the engine. New lights and a spoiler make up the changes to the rear.
After a quiet start, more and more news on supercars debuting in Geneva is starting to filter through with intoxicating offerings coming in the shape of theAston Martin V12 Vanquish, Mansory-tuned Bugatti Veyron and an ‘extreme’ Bentley.
Auto Trader will be reporting live from Geneva on March 3, so don’t forget to come back for all the news as it happens.
