Hot new Corvette C6 on sale

The Chevrolet Corvette C6 – which uses lightweight body panels – can accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 186mph

This is the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette C6 – the sixth generation of the legendary all-American muscle car.

And for 2008 the Chevrolet Corvette C6 ups the ante with a massive 6.2-litre V8 – increased from 6-litres – churning out 431bhp and 424lb/ft of pulling power.

This means the Chevrolet Corvette C6 – which uses lightweight body panels – can accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 186mph.

The 431bhp Chevy gets a slick short-throw six-speed manual gearbox or an optional six-speed automatic with steering-wheel mounted paddles delivering the power to the rear wheels.

Keeping the handsome Corvette C6 in check is ‘Active Handling’ stability control and an advanced traction control system, and the muscular Chevy benefits from near perfect 50/50 weight distribution.

But despite the 6.2-litre V8 lump sitting up front and massive performance, Chevrolet reckons the new Corvette C6 still manages fuel economy figures in excess of 30mpg.

The Corvette C6 features six-way adjustable power seats, air-conditioning, cruise control and power programmable door locks.

For an extra £2,400, buyers can opt for the ‘Luxury Pack’, which includes a six-disc in-dash CD changer, Bose seven-speaker stereo system, heated seats and a head-up display including a G-Force meter.

And for the real petrolhead, Chevrolet is offering up the hardcore Corvette Z06 coupe – the most powerful Corvette available in Europe.

The Corvette Z06 features a 7-litre V8 engine developing 505bhp and motorsport technology.

Prices for the new Chevrolet Corvette C6 start from £45,995 and £61,995 for the Corvette Z06.
