Geneva 2010: Alfa Romeo Giulietta

Geneva 2010: Alfa Romeo Giulietta - News image

02 March 2010

It’s not often a car maker celebrates its 100th birthday, and Alfa Romeo is doing it in the only way it knows how – with style.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta is the company’s new five-door hatchback, replacing the Alfa Romeo 147, and it bears more than a passing resemblance to the pretty Alfa Mito.

And that makes it one of the best-looking looking cars at the Geneva motor show; and almost certainly the most attractive in its class.

Alfa says the Ford Focus sized car is based on its new Comfort platform and will, according to company bosses, offer excellent handling prowess as well as a comfy ride.

Five different versions are on display, including a Cloverleaf version, packing a 235bhp engine, a 170bhp diesel and a 170bhp version of Alfa’s new 1.4 Multiair engine.

Inside, drivers will find the same DNA drive selector as the Mito, which sharpens the throttle, steering and Q2 electronic differential.
