Hyundai has released details and images of its all-new crossover SUV - the ix35.
It's based on the Hyundai ix-onic concept car which was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
That concept had a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, stop/start technology and 21-inch alloy wheels.
The ix-onic concept also emits 149g/km of CO2, which would place it into tax band F at £120 per year.
Hyundai hasn't confirmed whether the mass produced ix35 will include the above features, but has said it's based on the concept and will replace its Tucson SUV.
The Korean car maker claims the ix35 will deliver "markedly better fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions than rival SUVs."
"It will compete head on in terms of running costs with mainstream hatchbacks."
Hyundai also says the ix35 will appeal to buyers "who are seeking a more stylish alternative to conventional cars."
The ix35 will be fully unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15 and goes on sale in spring 2010.
Its rivals will include the Ford Kuga and Nissan Qashqai.
