A German tuner has got its hands on the Ferrari Enzo and made it more extreme – creating a 700bhp, 230mph hypercar.

Edo Competition – who has also got its hands on the Enzo-based Maserati MC12 – has gone to work with one of the world’s rarest supercars, despite production ending four years ago.

The modifiers have played about with the Ferrari Enzo’s computer and taken some exhaust parts off the Enzo-based track-only Ferrari FXX to increase power from 660bhp and 485lb/ft of pulling power to 700bhp and 527lb/ft.

The result is 0-62mph (100 km/h) in 3.5 seconds, 0-124mph (200 km/h) in 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 229mph – up from 218mph.

Edo has also fitted the Ferrari Enzo with the FXX’s clutch, an adjustable sport suspension and alloy wheels measuring 19 inches on the front and 20 inches on the rear.

The Ferrari Enzo went on sale in 2002 with a price tag of £418,000. Ferrari said there was demand for 400 Enzos so decided to build 399 to maintain exclusivity.

As with previous Prancing Horses, the Enzo was a bit hit with the rock fraternity with Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay and Pink Floyd legend Nick Mason both getting their hands on the Italian hypercar.

The devastating performance was demonstrated on Top Gear when The Stig took Mason’s Enzo round the track with the car setting a then-record on the Top Gear power board with a time of 1 minute 19 seconds – currently placing it fifth overall.

As with most exclusive Ferraris, the Enzo attracts a premium on the used market with some appearing on Auto Trader costing £899,999.

So expect to pay a large amount to get your hands on the Edo Competition Ferrari Enzo.
