07 April 2006 First deliveries of the BMW 5 Series-rival will be in July this year. Buyers can choose from five engines and four trim levels. Petrol engines include a 197bhp turbocharged 2.5, a 234bhp 3.2 and a 311bhp V8, while diesel buyers can choose from a 161bhp 2.4D and a 182bhp D5. Trim levels are S, SE, SE Sport and SE Lux. A range-topping Executive trim will be available later this year. S specification is only available with the 2.5T and the 2.4D for £24,375 and £24,400 respectively. Standard equipment includes front, side and curtain airbags, dual-zone climate control, 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, CD player and electric windows and door mirrors. The other trims are available with every engine. SE models costs from £26,925 for the 2.5T up to £38,975 for the V8 petrol. Added equipment over an S includes leather upholstery, electric driver's seat with memory settings, power-folding door mirrors, larger alloy wheels, upgraded stereo, 17-inch alloy wheels and automatic windscreen wipers. SE Sport cars are £2000 more than an SE. The extra cash buys 18-inch alloy wheels, sportier suspension settings, electric passenger seat, ventilated and heated front seats, power folding rear head restraints and a headlight cleaning system. SE Lux models are another £750 more than an SE Sport, and have softer leather, walnut wood trim and xenon headlights. Front seats are heated but not ventilated, while standard suspension settings and 17-inch alloy wheels are used. Whatcar.com will have a full review of the S80 next week. |
