Vauxhall has released new teaser shots of its upcoming Vectra replacement – the all-new Vauxhall Insignia.

The Vauxhall Insignia will debut at the British motor show in July and is a completely new model, replacing the ubiquitous Vauxhall Vectra.

And to keep customers wanting more, the Luton-based manufacturer has released teaser images – last year Vauxhall announced the new Insignia would follow the ‘design language’ of the hot GTC concept car.

The new teaser shots for the upcoming Vauxhall Insignia shows the new front with an Opel badge – Vauxhall cars are badged Opel in mainland Europe – together with the new front headlamps.

And the front headlamps for the Insignia are said to automatically adjust the beam distribution according to visibility conditions and the profile of the road.

Vauxhall is keen to showcase the new model’s dynamic capabilities, building on the recent successes of the storming Vauxhall VXR8 sports saloon and the current Vectra VXR.

“Dynamic performance is one of the Vauxhall brand’s core values”, says Alain Visser of General Motors Europe – Vauxhall’s parent company.

“In the new Insignia, this defining characteristic is realised by sophisticated powertrain technology.”

Whether this implies the carmaker is looking to introduce a four-wheel drive system into the flagship motorway mile-eater is still in question.

Reports surfaced last week over Vauxhall’s intention to introduce a range-topping Insignia VXR four-wheel-drive model to rival the Audi RS4.

Speaking to Auto Trader, a spokesperson denied the reports, but did not rule four-wheel-drive for the future.

The GTC concept car featured a 300bhp V6 engine – based on Vauxhall’s familiar 2.8-litre turbocharged unit – with an electronically controlled four-wheel drive system.

The Insignia will build on Vauxhall’s mid-sized saloon heritage – wading into battle with the new generation Ford Mondeo.
