12 December 2007 Renault’s New Modus will cost £9,650 when it goes on sale next February – £2,000 more than the Vauxhall Agila. The French carmaker also announced prices for the larger Grand Modus which will start at £10,250. Three petrol and two diesel engines will power the new models, ranging from a 1.2-litre petrol engine which returns 47.8mpg, and a 1.4-litre diesel model returning 62.8mpg and emitting 119g/km of carbon. Inside, the new Modus benefits from a 293-litre boot capacity, and Renault has engineered more headroom for front and rear passengers. And the Grand Modus grows in size too – increasing in length by 242mm compared to the current Modus, while offering a generous boot space of 410 litres. Standard kit on both new models will include ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), adaptive airbags for the driver and front passenger, brake assist, remote central locking, and R.A.I.D – Renault Anti Intruder Device. And although EuroNCAP ratings have not been released on the new Modus and Grand Modus, buyers can expect high standards of safety – the first generation Modus was the first small car to be awarded a five star rating. The New Modus and Grand Modus will hit UK showrooms in February 2008. |
