The all-new Renault Twingo supermini has gone on sale in the UK.

Buyers can choose from the 1.2-litre ‘Dynamique’ version, developing 75bhp and returning 49.5mpg on the combined cycle.

The engine also showcases Renault’s ‘eco2’ green initiative by emitting 135g/km of carbon dioxide.

For those wanting extra performance, the Twingo is available as a turbocharged 100bhp ‘GT’ model.

The French car maker claims the GT has the power of a 1.4-litre engine and the pulling power of a 1.6-litre, while producing 140g/km of emissions.

Standard equipment on the supermini includes 15-inch alloy wheels, sports body styling, fingertip remote controls and front airbags.

The GT spec Twingo gains air-conditioning, heated door mirrors and a leather-wrapped steering wheel as standard.

Prices start from £8,375 for the Dynamique, rising to £9,995 for the GT model.
