|
29 August 2007 Renault's Active Chassis is a benefit of the company's partnership with Nissan - the four-wheel-steering system was developed on the current Nissan Skyline. It will appear first on bespoke GT versions of the Laguna family car, although Renault expects the system will appeal more to buyers of the new Laguna Coupe, due next year. Although prices have yet to be confirmed, GT versions will cost more than Dynamique S cars, but cheaper than Initiale trim - a 2.0 Dynamique S will cost £18,040, while a 2.0 dCi 150 Initiale will cost £22,200. Active Chassis will be available for Lagunas fitted with Renault's turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine and 2.0-litre turbodiesel. The Megane Renaultsport hot hatch would also benefit from the system - the current car has been criticised for its steering, which is short of feel. What Car? testers have driven a Laguna with the four-wheel-steering system on a Renault test track and reported the car had much better grip and was more responsive than the standard car. |
