First official details: Porsche 911 facelift
06 June 2008 Full details of a facelifted Porsche 911 have been revealed with the German sports car getting a new SEVEN-speed twin clutch gearbox and even more power. And while the Porsche 911’s power and performance are increased, carbon dioxide emissions have been slashed by up to 15 per cent. Back in March we got our hands on exclusive spy shots of the facelifted Porsche 911 which was spotted at a petrol station in Southern Spain. View our exclusive spy shots of the Porsche 911 The Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe – with power upped by 20bhp to 345bhp – will accelerate from 0-62mph (100kph) in 4.5 seconds (down from 4.7 seconds) with the 385bhp, 186mph Coupe S doing the same dash in 4.3 seconds. And in another first, the entry-level Carrera will emit 225g/km – sneaking it into tax band F for an annual bill of £210 as opposed to the 226+ band G which costs £400 a year. Lewis Hamilton’s dad’s Porsche smash - EXCLUSIVE shots As with most Porsche 911 facelifts, the car will only get a few subtle tweaks with new front and rear lights, new exhaust tailpipes and new alloy wheels. On sale on July 5, prices for the new Porsche 911 start from £63,070 for the entry-level 3.6-litre Carrera, rising to £70,360 for the 3.8-litre Carrera S. Those wanting a convertible Porsche 911 will pay a £7,300 premium for the privilege. The more hardcore Turbo and GT2 models will get the minor facelift later in the year. |
