Porsche has taken the wraps off a limited edition Boxster with more power, better handling and an exclusive interior.

The Porsche Boxster RS 60 Spyder has been designed to celebrate the classic Porsche racing cars of the 1960s, and mimics some of their trademarks.

The engine’s output climbs to 303bhp thanks to a new sports exhaust, with purposeful twin tailpipes.

A unique front spoiler and 19-inch Porsche Sport Design alloy wheels which fill the wheelarches give the Spyder a racing-car stance.

Porsche Active Suspension Management System (PASM) works to adjust the suspension according to conditions and driver input to make the Boxster’s chassis as dynamic as possible.

The Boxster’s GT Silver metallic paint is closely matched to the 1960 Porsche Type 718 RS 60 Spyder, which won the 12 Hours of Sebring in Florida.

The red leather interior trim, covering almost all surfaces, is also matched to that of the iconic racing car but in a more modern style.

A Carrera Red hood matches the tones of the interior. Instrument dials are silver, and the windscreen surround is finished in matte black.

In a nod to the year of the classic car’s birth, just 1,960 Porsche Boxster RS 60 Spyder’s will be built, and each will be fitted with a commemorative plaque in its glovebox.

Deliveries to the UK and Ireland are expected in March next year, with the Spyder costing £45,400.

Porsche is presenting the Boxster Spyder in Italy at the Bologna Motor Show from December 5th to 16th.
