Porsche to build wild new Cayenne - Porsche Cayenne GTS

Porsche has revealed details of a new addition to its Cayenne SUV line-up – and Auto Trader has the first pictures.

The new Cayenne GTS, to be premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week, will slot in the model line-up between the Cayenne S and the top-of-the-range Cayenne Turbo.

Porsche’s engineers have fettled with the Cayenne’s standard 4.8-litre V8 and upped power output to 405bhp, propelling the four-wheel-drive behemoth from 0-62mph in just 6.1 seconds – half a second quicker than the Cayenne S, but a second off the Cayenne Turbo’s pace.

The new GTS is the first Cayenne to feature Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which electronically controls the suspension, a feature more usually found on Porsche’s sportscar range, and sits 24mm lower than standard.

The Stuttgart-based manufacturer has reserved two new colours especially for the GTS to allow buyers to differentiate it from its siblings, GTS Red and Nordic Gold Metallic.

On the outside, it will share its looks with the Turbo, while the wheel arches boast an extra 14mm of space to accommodate the massive 21-inch alloy wheels.

Porsche expects the GTS to be launched globally in February 2008.
