New range-topper for 911
24 May 2004 Set to go on sale in August, the Turbo S is the final evolution of the current 911 ahead of the launch of the next-generation car in September. Power jumps from 420bhp to 450bhp compared with the standard Turbo. Peak pull rises from 413lb ft to 457lb ft: enough muscle to go from 0-62mph in just 4.2sec and on to a top speed of 191mph. Porsche promises the Turbo S will stop as well as it goes, with powerful ceramic brake discs fitted as standard. Standard equipment also includes metallic paint, xenon headlights, a high-spec BOSE sound system with a CD multichanger, satellite-navigation and leather trim. The new model will be priced from £99,300 in coupe form, more than £10,000 more than the standard Turbo. Convertible versions cost £105,030. The Turbo S (along with all other four-wheel-drive versions of today's 911) will continue to be sold alongside the new model until 2006, when the new Turbo will arrive. |
