Peugeot 308 heats up for Geneva
19 February 2008 The hottest Peugeot 308 yet will be unveiled alongside the new 308 SW family estate at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. The range-topping Peugeot 308 GT THP 175 is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine mated with a six-speed manual gearbox. Producing 175bhp and 195lb/ft of pulling power, the Peugeot 308 GT THP accelerates from 0-62mph (100kph) in 8.3 seconds and on to a top speed 140mph – 3mph more than its Peugeot 307 predecessor. And while it’s faster than the previous range-topping Peugeot 307, the 308 is also much more efficient averaging 37.1mpg (up from 33.6mpg) and emitting 180g/km – placing in tax band E, meaning an annual bill of £165. Everything you wanted to know about car tax The Peugeot 308 GT THP also gets a lower front bumper, rear spoiler and a reduced ride height. The Peugeot 308 SW estate will line up alongside the 308 GT THP at the Geneva Motor Show.
But if that boot space isn’t required, Peugeot will equip the 308 SW with two ‘occasional seats’ – turning it into a seven seater. Customers will get a choice of five petrol and four diesel engines producing between 95bhp and 175bhp. More details will follow at a later date with the Peugeot 308 GT THP on sale in April with the Peugeot 307 SW following in June. We’ll be reporting live from Geneva so don’t forget to come back for all the big news as it happens. |
