Peugeot RCZ – full spec of 200bhp coupe

Photos and details of the finished Peugeot RCZ have been released ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut.
According to Peugeot it will signal the start of a dynamic new chapter in the history of the French manufacturer and appeal to drivers who want to have fun, not just a mode of transport.
It’s the first Peugeot model to stray from Peugeot’s ‘zero’ or ‘double zero’ naming system.

One diesel and two petrols will be slotted under the bonnet of the RCZ, which features a ‘double-bubble’ roof.
The 2-litre HDI diesel has 163bhp and 251lb/ft and is the greenest model in the line-up with a combined economy of 52.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 139g/km.
First of the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrols is a 156bhp motor fitted with a six speed manual or automatic gearbox. It should be pretty easy on the wallet too, emitting 159g/km and achieving 40.9mpg.
Topping the range is a 200bhp 1.6, accelerating the RCZ from 0-62mph in 7.6 seconds. Fuel consumption drops slightly to 39.8mpg with emissions of 165g/km.
Peugeot has paid attention to aerodynamics, and an active rear spoiler - similar to the item fitted to the Audi TT and Porsche Boxster – raises in two positions depending on speed.
Inside, Peugeot claims it has paid particular attention to the driving position, and used high quality materials, which include cowled dials, photo-etched dials and a centrally mounted clock.
There are two ‘occasional seats’ in the back - big enough for kids and luggage - and the boot can hold 384 litres.
The RCZ goes on sale in Spring 2010, when it will go into direct competition with models including the Volkswagen Scirocco, Audi TT and Hyundai Coupe.
