Eight new Peugeot 308 models
27 March 2008
Peugeot has announced eight new models, which will join its already 28-model-strong 308 hatchback range.
Once the eight new models join the current Peugeot 308 range, the carmaker claims seven 308 models will emit just 120g/km putting them into tax band B with its low £35 annual charge, largely thanks to special tyres and revised gearboxes on some models.
Available on S, Sport and SE HDi 110 models is a new six-speed manual gearbox which Peugeot claims it optimises fuel consumption and improves refinement.
Peugeot 308s fitted with the six-speed manual and Michelin Energy Saver tyres have an average fuel consumption of 62.7mpg and emit 129g/km of CO2.
Alternatively, a six-speed ‘electronic gearbox control’ can be fitted. This mimics a manual gearbox, but does away with the need for a clutch pedal. Gear shifts are possible in 0.4 seconds.
Available on S and SE HDi 110 models only, Peugeot 308 are fitted with this gearbox also have an average fuel consumption of 62.7mpg but emit just 120g/km of CO2.
A final new gearbox is a six-speed automatic, fitted to the 2-litre HDi diesel engine in five-door SE trim.
The Peugeot 308 Sport model gains two new engines, a petrol 1.4-litre VTi 95 and a diesel 1.6-litre HDi 90 – capable of 43mpg and 63mph respectively.
The new models are available now, starting from £12,295.
