New 137mph Peugeot hot hatch revealed
12 April 2007
Peugeot has revealed details of its latest turbocharged hot hatch – the 207GTi.
Building on previous successes - the 205GTi and 206GTi - the 207 uses a 1.6-litre engine, which produces 175bhp and 180lb/ft of pulling power.
The power from the high pressure turbo accelerates the hot hatch from 0-62mph (100kph) in 7.1 seconds before reaching a top speed of 137mph.
Fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox, the Peugeot car returns a combined 39.2 mpg.
Sporty features on the outside include 17-inch alloys, rear spoiler and a twin chrome exhaust.
The Peugeot 207 – which received a five star EuroNCAP crash test rating – boasts steering stability programme (SSP), which works with the electronic stability programme (ESP) and applies more braking power to the wheels with most grip. This reduces braking distances by up to 10 per cent, while improving stability and control.
Other driver aids include rear parking sensors, cruise control, automatic headlamps and wipers and duel zone climate control.
Prices for the 207GTi THP 175 – which goes on sale in June – start from £14,995.
