The stunning Stile Bertone Mantide hypercar which made its debut at the Shanghai Motor Show will cost £1.3 million when it goes on sale.

This means the bonkers looking hypercar will cost 12 times more than its donor car, the £109,000 Corvette ZR1.

Production could be limited to no more than ten to ensure ultimate exclusivity, according to the New York Times.

In normal guise the ZR1 is a helluva car, lapping the Nürburgring in just 7 minutes 26.4 seconds.

But Stile Bertone has reduced weight by 100kg and its Transformers-like bodykit isn’t for just for looks, with the Mantide’s drag reduced by 25 per cent and downforce increased by 30 per cent.

With all the cosmetic changes, the Mantide will accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 217mph – an improvement over the ZR1’s 3.5 seconds and 205mph.

The Bertone Mantide was designed by a rather talented fella by the name of Jason Castriota.

The 34-year-old Brooklyn-born designer has been involved with the Ferrari 599 GTB, Rolls-Royce Hyperion and the Maserati Gran Turismo.

Castriota is probably best known for designing the Enzo-based Ferrari P4/5 for super-rich American car collector James Glickenhaus.

He probably captained the baseball team dated the high school prom queen too. Not that we’re jealous or anything.
