Prices for the new Mitsubishi Evo X will start from £27,499 when it goes on sale next year.

And the range-topping Mitsubishi Evo X FQ-360 model – with an expected power output of 360bhp – will start at £37,999.

But buyers on a budget will be pleased to know the base models start at just £12,499.

The base model Mitsubishi Evo X comes with a turbocharged 2-litre engine producing 290bhp and a massive 300lb/ft of pulling power.

Three trim levels are available on launch – the GS, GSR, and the GSR SST – and all models are fitted with Mitsubishi’s four-wheel-drive system (Super All Wheel Control).

The Mitsubishi Evo X will come with 18-inch wheels, high-spec Brembo brakes, and Eibach/Bilstein sourced suspension.

On the inside, the new Evo X will house Recaro sports seats, a Bluetooth hands-free system, and a Thatcham CAT1 approved alarm/immobiliser.

The GSR trim adds a Rockford Fosgate premium audio system and an advanced vehicle data system, allowing drivers to collect data on altitude and direction.

And the new Mitsubishi Evo X will showcase the carmaker's Sports Shift Transmission (SST) automatic gearbox with magnesium steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters.

The base-level Lancer Evolution models have engines ranging from a 110bhp 1.5-litre petrol, to a 140bhp 2-litre diesel, which has a 0-62mph time of 9.6 seconds and a combined fuel consumption figure of 44.83mpg.

The new Mitsubishi Lancer and Evo X models will be launched in February 2008.
