Awesome souped-up Mini Cooper S
18 July 2007 Click here for more pics of the AC Schnitzer Mini Cooper S The Mini Cooper S is to be available with a range of hot-new modifications and Auto Trader has the first pictures. The AC Schnitzer Mini Cooper S boasts a new performance exhaust, suspension and aerodynamic bodykit. The modders have also retuned the engine – which produces 170bhp as standard – but aren’t giving away the performance figures yet. However, we’d expect the new Cooper S’s supercharged 1.6-litre engine to be producing up to 220bhp. This should launch the hot hatch from 0-62mph (100kph) in 6.8 seconds before running out of steam at 144mph. To improve handling, the Mini’s suspension was tested on the notorious Nürbürgring race track and is fitted with a choice of either 17- or 18-inch alloys. The sculpted bodykit, front and rear spoiler and centrally-mounted twin exhaust give the Cooper an imposing look. Inside, Schnitzer has added their personal touch, fitting customised aluminium brake pedal, handbrake handle and gear knob. There are no confirmed dates for when the Mini goes on sale, but expect to see it available from later this year for around £23,000.
