New Mini majors on subtle changes
14 August 2006 by Adrian Hearn BMW has announced details of its hotly-anticipated new Mini Cooper and supercharged Cooper S. The new models feature a subtle exterior change and two new engines boasting impressive fuel economy. The turbocharged 175bhp Cooper S catapults to 62mph in just 7.1 seconds before reaching a top speed of 140mph. BMW claim the Cooper S has an average fuel consumption of 40.9mpg. The 120bhp Cooper accelerates from 0-62mph in 9.1 seconds all the way to 126mph offering an excellent 48.7mpg. Since its arrival in 2001, the Mini has been a British success with more than 800,000 being produced at BMW’s factory in Both models will be available later this year with the 95bhp Mini One following in the first half of next year. The Cooper is expected to cost around £12,995 with the Cooper S costing another £3,000.
