Mighty Mini costs less
03 August 2005 The £3600 upgrade can be requested when you buy the Cooper S, raising the power output by 47bhp to 210bhp, and the asking price to £19,095. Previously, the sports upgrade could only be retrofitted at dealerships, with prices varying depending on the hourly rate charged by the workshop. A typical quote was around £3750. The factory-fitted kit now also includes more powerful brakes and suspension tweaks for improved handling. The John Cooper Works kit is still available as a retrofit option at any of the 157 Mini dealerships across the UK for £2999, plus 10 hours' labour charge. The extra dose of power cuts the 0-60mph sprint time of the Cooper S from 7.2sec to 6.6sec, while the top speed rises from 138mph to 143mph. |
