Mazda is offering motorists £1,500 worth of petrol when they buy a new Mazda RX-8 or Mazda CX-7.

The Japanese giant is countering the current fuel crisis with a special promotion to allow UK buyers of the new Mazda RX-8 and Mazda CX-7 free fuel.

And with petrol prices currently averaging 119p a litre, the new Mazda CX-7 will get approximately 18* free tanks of petrol from the offer.

Buyers of the new Mazda RX-8 will get approximately 21* free tanks of fuel.

The mould-breaking Mazda RX-8 broke all the sportscar rules when it was launched in 2003, with its rear-wheel-drive chassis, four-seater layout and unique backwards-opening rear doors.

The Mazda RX-8 also has another trump card up its sleeve, as it houses the world’s only production rotary engine.

It’s 1.3-litre petrol engine – which is smaller than most equivalent performance engines – spins up to 9,000 rpm and churns out 231bhp, which is enough to propel the funky coupe from 0-62mph in around 6.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 140mph.

And Mazda claims its CX-7 SUV is an ‘RX-8 on steroids’.

The Mazda CX-7 is the company’s sporting SUV, featuring a 2.3-litre turbocharged engine producing 256bhp – meaning the load-lugging four-wheel-drive can accelerate from 0-62mph in 8 seconds and hit a top speed of 130mph.

While the CX-7 is not an ‘off-road’ vehicle, its all-wheel-drive gives it great agility on winding roads.
