New Mazda 6 from £15,100

The new Mazda 6 will cost from £15,100 when it goes on sale in December - just under £1000 more than the current model's starting price.

Buyers will be able to choose from 10 saloon and hatchback petrol-powered models in December, with a further six diesel models going on sale in January.

Nine estate models will then join the range in March.

Standard safety features include stability control, traction control, emergency brake assist, daytime running lights, driver and passenger front airbags, front side airbags, curtain airbags, active head restraints and a Thatcham Category One alarm.

Buyers will have five trims to choose from - S, TS, TS2, Sport and SL.

• S costs from £15,100 and has 16-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers and mirrors, air-conditioning, a CD player and all-round electric windows.

• TS costs from £16,100 and has an alternative interior trim, steering wheel-mounted controls, cruise control, climate control, a leather steering wheel and an upgraded sound system.

• TS2 costs from £17,830 and has 17-inch alloy wheels, electric folding door mirrors, dusk-sensing lights, rain-sensing wipers, a six-disc CD changer and front foglights.

• Sport costs from £19,630 and comes with a rear spoiler, side skirts, privacy glass and alloy pedals, as well as 18-inch alloy wheels and more powerful headlights. It also has a keyless entry system, heated sports seats and a BOSE stereo.

• SL is the range-topper and costs from £20,680. It adds front and rear parking sensors, an electric sunroof, powered front seats and leather trim to Sport trim, but doesn't get the rear wing, side skirts or privacy glass.
