Prices for the all-new Mazda 6 have been announced, with saloon and hatchback models starting from £15,100.

Mazda claim all ten models will be highly specified for their price brand with the “all-new Mazda 6 taken upmarket, with no loss of agility”.

The Mazda 6 range includes S, TS, TS2, Sport and SL (sports luxury) trim levels.

Every model has dynamic stability control, traction control and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution to help prevent skidding as standard.

Daytime running lights, driver & passenger front airbags, front side airbags, full-length curtain airbags, ISOFIX child seat fittings and an alarm are also fitted.

The S gains 16-inch alloy wheels, colour coded exterior accruements, remote central locking, electric front and rear windows, air-conditioning, height adjustable driver’s seat and a CD hi-fi with an MP3 jack.

For £1,000 more (from £16,100) the TS adds multifunction steering wheel controls, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, leather steering wheel, extra hi-fi speakers and a rear centre armrest.

The Mazda 6 TS2 starts at £17,830 and boasts 17-inch wheels, auto dimming rear view mirror, electric folding mirrors, automatic lights, rain sensing wipers, six-disc CD-changer, front fog lights and Bluetooth mobile phone connection.

A styling kit comprised of rear spoiler, side skirts, front and rear sports bumpers, privacy glass, 18-inch wheels and alloy pedals is included with the Mazda 6 sport from £19,630.

It’s also fitted with Bi-xenon headlights which turn with the car to aid visibility when cornering, keyless entry, a start/stop button, half-leather heated seats and 240W Bose stereo.

The range-topping SL does without the styling kit, but adds front and rear parking sensors, electric sunroof, power adjustable front seats and full-leather trim to the already extensive list of features.

In January 2008 the range will be expanded when six diesel models arrive, ahead of nice estate cars which are available from March. The estate will cost £700 more than equivalent hatchback and saloon models.

We’re in St Tropez test driving the new Mazda 6. Don’t forget to come back on Friday for our review.
