New Mazda 6: Official details
15 October 2007 Details of the second generation Mazda 6 have been revealed with the Japanese car becoming a taller, longer and wider beast. The Mazda 6 will be available with a range of engines including 1.8- and 2-litre petrol and 2-litre diesel producing 119bhp, 146bhp and 138bhp respectively. And out goes the 2.3-litre turbocharged engine – replaced by a range-topping 2.5-litre, 168bhp lump. The 2.5-litre model accelerates from 0-62mph in 8.3 seconds and has a top speed of 132mph. But the big seller among fleets is likely to be the diesel model, which has a top speed of 126mph while managing a combined 56mpg. While the car is slightly larger than its predecessor, the new Mazda 6 weighs up to 35kg less and features anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic brake distribution and brake assist as standard. Optional equipment includes a start button, bi-xenon headlights, Bluetooth mobile technology, a Bose sound system and sat-nav with a seven-inch screen. We’d expect to see a hot 145mph+ four-wheel drive MPS model to be released at a later date. The Mazda 6 will be available as a hatchback, saloon and estate. Prices for the all-new Mazda 6 will be announced mid-November with the car going on sale in December. Auto Trader links: View the best prices for a Mazda 6 with Auto Trader’s New Car Search |
