World's most hardcore Maserati

One of the world's rarest hypercars, the Maserati MC12, has been given a major workover by a top tuning company.

This MC12 Corsa – which is closely based on the Ferrari Enzo – is one of just 12 built by Maserati, and the most hardcore to date.

The Italian supercar maker built its tiny run after dominating last year's FIA GT championship with its MC12 GT1 racer.

But the lightweight race car for the road wasn't crazy enough for Edo Karabegovic, founder of Edo Competition – despite a 203mph top speed.

The gargantuan 755bhp V12 engine remains untouched – apart for a sports exhaust system – he has improved performance by shedding a massive 400kg from the Maserati's kerbweight.

Edo's Maserati also boasts bespoke suspension, built by German experts KW, which retains the MC12's trick 'nose lift' function raising the front of the car to avoid clipping speed bumps.

But if you fancy this car, you'll need to dig deep – it costs a whopping £814,000.
