Dubai royalty sell sensational Range Rover - News image

A wild Range Rover Sport built for a member of the Dubai royal family is for sale – but you’ll have to travel to Dubai to see it.

US-based tuners West Coast Customs – made famous by the MTV’s Pimp My Ride in America – customised a standard Range Rover Sport to look like the 2004 Range Stormer concept.

And this wild Range Rover is one of just THREE examples available in the world – and is up for sale in Dubai.

The stunning Range Stormer concept was rolled out by Land Rover in 2004, featuring gullwing doors and a glass roof, and was the first concept car the company had presented to the public.

A member of the Dubai royal family was keen to purchase the Range Stormer concept – but the original is on display at the Land Rover Design Centre in Gaydon.

So the royalty contacted Ryan Friedlinghaus from West Coast Customs to recreate the stunning Range Stormer using a standard Range Rover Sport.

The first Range Stormer replica built by West Coast Customs – like the one for sale in Dubai – was painstakingly crafted to match the original concept, which many of the engineers hadn’t even seen in the flesh.

The customisation programme included lengthening the front doors by 15 inches and ripping out the rear doors, crafting steel bumpers and an aluminium bonnet scoop, raking the windscreen, chopping and lowering the roofline by two inches and installing a reinforced polycarbonate roof panel.

The custom-built Range Stormer also features 22-inch Asanti wheels, Brembo brakes, a dual-exhaust system and custom LED driving lights.

But this isn’t the first Range Rover Sport customised to look like the stunning Range Stormer concept – last year London-based design agency LSE unveiled its 500bhp Range Rover Coupe.

And in December 2007, Land Rover took the wraps off the sensational LRX concept SUV, which is a low-slung four-wheel-drive car based on the Land Rover Freelander.

The stunning white Range Stormer is being offered by Alwan’s Cars in Dubai, and will set you back 1,650,000 United Arab Emirates Dirhams – just under £230,000.
