One-off 720bhp Ford GT90 for sale
24 December 2009
A Ford GT90 concept car is going under the hammer next month in what could be a multi-million pound sale.
The Ford GT90 up for auction is the only one of its kind in the world and has not been given an estimated sale price.

RM Auctions – who earlier this year offered up an exquisite Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM – is putting the one-off Ford GT90 under the hammer in its January ‘Automobiles of Arizona’ auction.
And the GT90 is one of the most unique and powerful concept cars ever built.
Built in 1995 in homage to the original Ford GT40 from the 1960s, the concept GT90 uses a mid-engine 6-litre quad-turbocharged V12 engine producing 720bhp – more than a Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 SV – and 660lb/ft of pulling power.
Ford’s engineers reckoned the GT90 could hit a top speed of 253mph, which by today’s standards, would make it the joint second fastest car in the world – level pegging with the Bugatti Veyron and behind the 257mph SSC Ultimate Aero.
The Ford GT90 uses parts from the Jaguar XJ220 supercar, including its five-speed gearbox and double-wishbone suspension, and was designed using Ford’s ‘Edge’ design philosophy, which used flat planes, angles, glass and triangular shapes.
The GT90 body panels are moulded out of carbon fibre, while the chassis is constructed out of a honeycomb sectioned aluminium monocoque.
RM Auctions is offering up the GT90 for the very first time at auction, and say the car is in excellent running condition.
Fancy it? Better head down to Arizona with some serious dollar…
