Fiat will unveil the Trepiuno concept car at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

The tiny two-door car can seat up to three adults and one child, and continues Fiat's tradition of city cars which dates back to the original 500 of 1957.

Although Fiat has said the Trepiuno won't make production, support for the car by key company figures means it could get the green light, especially if it is favourably received at Geneva. Even then, however, the Trepiuno isn't likely to go on UK sale before 2007.

At just 3300mm long, the car is shorter than a Ford Ka or Seat Arosa. A section of the dashboard folds away to allow the front passenger seat to be slid forward, providing more room in the rear for a third adult alongside a child. Otherwise there's only space for two children in the back.

The Trepiuno features a panoramic glass sunroof, harking back to the full-length fabric sunroofs found on the 500.

Fiat will also pull the wraps off a face-lifted Multipla MPV at Geneva. It retains the same six-seater layout, engines and transmissions as its forebear, and goes on sale in the UK late this summer.
