This is the new Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M – a lightweight, harder version of the Ferrari F430 Spider.

Built to celebrate Ferrari’s 16th Formula One Constructor’s title, the Scuderia Spider 16M is 80kg lighter than the standard Spider and features the same 4.3-litre V8 engine which develops 510bhp and 346lb/ft of pulling power.

This power, coupled with a weight of just 1,340kg, ensures blistering pace with the Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M accelerating from 0-62mph (100kph) in 3.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 195mph.

Gear changes will be lightning quick thanks to a six-speed F1-like gearbox and handling should also be sublime due to the car’s E-diff – a sophisticated system which ensures maximum grip through corners.

Stopping power should be as brutal as the acceleration thanks to a set of carbon-ceramic disc brakes which are housed behind the Ferrari’s 19-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels.

The new car also features a plaque on its rear grille to commemorate the F1 team’s 16th Constructor’s championship and a customised Ferrari iPod Touch with a 16GB hard drive which can be placed on a central dock in front of the dashboard.

As with many Ferraris, production will be limited with just 499 Scuderia Spider 16Ms rolling off the car maker’s Maranello factory line.

When it goes on sale, the Scuderia Spider 16M will sit alongside the F430, 599, 612 and new model, the California.

Prices are yet to be released, but we’d anticipate that the Scuderia Spider 16M will set customers back about £180,000.
