First look at new 190mph Corvette
27 April 2007 Corvette has revealed its new supercar will top 190mph – even in its cheapest guise. The 2008 Corvette retains the iconic looks of the current model, but is powered by an all-new 6.2-litre V8 engine which develops 430bhp. That means the 'Vette will reach 60mph from rest in just 4.3 seconds, on the way to its 190mph top speed – 10mph faster than the current model. Corvette will also offer a performance upgrade package, which boosts power by an additional 6mph and raises pulling muscle to a massive 428lb/ft. A choice of a six-speed manual or paddle-shift semi-automatic gearboxes are available, the latter of which has been improved to reduce time taken to shift gears. The Corvette interior is largely unchanged, although buyers will have the option of a custom leather interior, which can be seen in our pictures. Corvette's even hotter Z06 model remains largely unchanged, with its 7-litre V8 developing 505bhp, which is good for a 0-60mph dash of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 198mph. A spokesman at Corvette
